Are virtual recruitment events here to stay?
Are virtual recruitment events here to stay? We believe so, and here’s why:
Less travel
With so many of us working in dispersed locations around the country, and indeed the world, virtual recruitment events make coming together easier than ever.
At the click of a button, technology allows us to connect, collaborate and learn online, saving many of us time spent on travel – less travel means minimising our carbon footprint too. An energy report confirms that virtual events reduce carbon emissions by more than 99% (V-Ex Virtual Exhibitions, 2021).
Convenience
Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the world is realising how much time technology can save us. For instance, 44% of those aged between 30 and 49 are working from home as of June 2021 (Clark, 2021).
Hosting a virtual recruitment event gives candidates the added convenience of not having to leave the comfort of their home (or office space) whilst still getting the benefit of experiencing a company’s employer brand with a bespoke virtual solution.
Talent reach
Employers can benefit from virtual recruitment events as they can access a wider talent pool, giving them the opportunity to engage with the best talent.
A wider talent pool can encourage more diversity within an organisation, and research implies that this leads to more creativity and innovation (Reynolds, 2018). Therefore, a virtual recruitment events can provide endless opportunities for businesses.
Costs
Virtual recruitment events are much more cost effective compared to in-person, physical events. The expenses associated with physical events can include venue hire, parking, resource, logistics, accommodation (if necessary), catering, the list continues.
However, by opting for a virtual solution, businesses can free up budget which can then be redirected into producing a higher quality recruitment event.
Networking
Networking allows individuals to strengthen business connections, advance your career and gain access to new job opportunities (Michael Page, 2021).
Our bespoke virtual platform caters for 16 different languages (immediately translated at the click of a button), and allows global candidates and employers to network with ease and efficiency.
Attendees can see who’s online, send an instant chat or email, as well as take part in video interviews, all directly from the platform. Not online? Not a problem! All participants can schedule a meeting with someone for a later date after checking their availability on their profile. In addition, when recruitment mode is on, candidates can upload their latest resume, interests and employers to their profile, which helps you learn about them before starting a conversation.
Environmental impact
We all want to do our bit to minimise our carbon footprint as we race towards Net Zero.
By taking the travel and logistics out of building and attending an in-person event, we’re collectively and consciously helping to reduce the impact we have on our environment.
According to the University of Michigan, virtual conferences can generate vastly lower emissions than in-person gatherings.
In its recent research, the university found that the 2020 AirMiners online event produced ‘66 times less greenhouse gas emissions than an in-person meeting in San Francisco would have’ (University of Michigan, 2021).
Following an incredibly successful year in delivering truly engaging virtual event experiences for many of our clients, we’re now excited about taking this platform into the recruitment world!
